Smart Trailer USA™ Specifications

The Smart Trailer USA has aluminum decks and aluminum ramps.  The trailer weighs only about 600 lbs. and offers greatly reduced maintenance by eliminating any need for painting rust spots on the steel ramps or deck due to wear and tear.  And besides, it just looks great!

The trailer itself is made of steel, but with aluminum enhancements.  Included components are:

    * Dual diamond plate aluminum wheel decks with all-round 2-inch steel outer safety guide plates;
    * Dual diamond plate aluminum locking ramps;
    * 3500 pound capacity axle and suspension on 10 foot bed with 4 foot tongue;
    * Dual 15 inch steel wheels (white);
    * Electric brakes (you will need a brake controller in the RV cab);
    * Breakaway switch for activation of electric brakes and brake lights
    * 7-Way electrical connection cable;
    * Trailer coupler for 2 inch diameter ball;
    * Steel safety chains (2);
    * Front tie down straps and ratchets (2);
    * Tail lights and turn signals (2);
    * Safety and convenience step (2);
    * Rear jack stands (2);
    * Inside fender skirts to prevent road junk hitting car (2).

 10 foot bed with 4 foot tongue for a 14 foot overall length.  The tongue height is 18" from the ground to the top of the ball coupler

 Weight is 700 pounds

 2-wheel electric brakes (requires on-vehicle brake controller from your RV dealer). 

 Loading ramps are stowed inside the trailer and pull out easily. (They can be removed for maintenance). Simply remove the lockpin and, standing a couple of feet behind the trailer, pull the ramps out. This keeps the load you have to lift to just a few pounds.

For added rust prevention, in Red, Blue or Black, choose our heavy duty epoxy paint,  Keep your trailer sparkling longer.

Kayak - Canoe - Surfboard Rack - $445

Yes, take other toys with you!  This rack mounts about a foot above the smart, or other small car, so you just load your gear, tie it down and then drive right under it to load your smart.  Cool.

Motorcycle Tiedowns - $200

Your bikes can go along when you leave the car at home.  Remember, too, that the total weight of your bikes should not exceed 2,000 lbs. 

NOTE:  This option applies ONLY if you want to load TWO smaller bikes at all times.  Otherwise, the trailer will be dangerously out of balance on the road.  If you have two heavy bikes, you may wish to consider a Super Smart Trailer USA.  That has a total weight capacity of 7,000 lbs, including the trailer weight of 1,100 lbs.

If you only have one bike, you can also put it on the regular Smart Trailer USA, but loaded in the center.  To do that, we make the entire deck flat steel and modify the trailer to allow one ramp to fit the center of the loading area to accommodate the bike.  The cost of this modification is also $200.

Other Information

Trailer Maintenance

A simple 2-point lubrication every 3000 miles and a check of the bearings every 6000 miles is all the maintenance required.

Aluminum Construction - We get the question as to why we build in steel and not aluminum. We can build one for you in aluminum, but the cost will be almost double due to cost of materials alone.

Now, however, we are offering aluminum ramps and decking as a $600 option.  This reduces weight and maintenance while maintaining equal strength. 

Dual 15 inch steel wheels (white) - We do not use 13 inch wheels often found on other trailers, although they would work.

We choose to use the larger wheel, which rotates slower and thus runs cooler. The tires, bearings and axle will all last longer than with the smaller wheels and tires. Think about all those boat trailers you've seen alongside the road, with flats or burned out bearings...
